Wide belts PS 21 F with paper backing for stainless steel, metal and steel
The wide belt PS 21 F is a special abrasive specifically designed for extra tough materials. It is made up of a paper-based backing to which zirconia alumina grains have been applied with a close coating using synthetic resin. The combination of stable backing and self-sharpening grit turns the abrasive belt PS 21 F into a long-lasting abrasive that delivers an outstanding service life. It used primarily for grinding on:
- steel and
- stainless steel
Zirconia alumina as abrasive grain – Effect
Zirconia alumina is a special abrasive. Its abrasive grains are hard and particularly tough. The grit is composed of crystalline structures that form wedge-shaped grains. After becoming blunt from grinding, portions of the sharp-edged crystals, which make up the grains, will break out of the structure, leaving behind new, sharp edges. The result is a self-sharpening effect. This effect ensures that the abrasive will retain its abrasive performance almost completely throughout its entire lifetime.
Applications of the wide belt PS 21 F
The wide belt PS 21 F is designed for applications during which the workpieces are deburred or rounded. This abrasive belt is available in a large selection of grit sizes ranging from extra coarse to fine.
Connection of the belt joint
The wide belt PS 21 F is an endless belt. There are several ways to glue the joint together. The different joints are designed specifically for each application purpose.
- Form 1: The abrasive belt joint is cut at a defined angle and joined with an overlap.
- Form 2: Just as with form 1, the abrasive belt joint is cut with a bevel and joined with an overlap. The grain points at the butt joint are ground down. This ensures that the belt will run even more smoothly.
- Form 3 G: Here, the butt joint is cut with a zigzag edge and supported with a fabric-reinforced film bonded underneath. This form allows for completely impact-free work on parts that are particularly sensitive to breakage.
- Form 4 G: Bevel-cut butt joint supported with a fabric-reinforced film bonded underneath.
